Dear Friend,
This has been a summer of arrivals and returns. Teams landed in Guatemala to serve alongside families, surgeons returned to a hospital that had been waiting for them, and educators gathered to sharpen their craft. In this month’s issue: a week of care measured in patients and homes, the partnership that reopened an operating room, and the people whose steady presence makes all of it possible.
None of it happens without you. Thank you for walking alongside these families.
With gratitude, The IEP Team

Serving through our Homes and Health programs, Team Heart worked alongside local leaders, healthcare professionals, and families across Guatemala. For many at the medical clinic, it was their first chance to be seen for a long-standing concern. Every surgery meant relief from pain, renewed confidence, and a step forward. And for families who had cooked over open fires, a smoke-free stove and a water filter mean cleaner air and a safer kitchen.

Health Stories
Bringing Surgery Back to Hospital Corpus Christi
A grant from Prophet funded two anesthesia machines, and with them, our surgical teams returned to Hospital Corpus Christi in Chimaltenango, a small hospital that anchors many of our surgical missions. During Team Heart’s visit, children there received surgery to correct strabismus, an eye condition that affects vision and alignment. For those children and their families, specialized care close to home can mean clearer sight, greater confidence, and new possibilities. This is what partnership looks like: the resources that let healthcare professionals do what they do best.

The Days That Change a Life: Jonnathan’s Story
Behind every stove installation is someone who makes families and volunteers feel instantly welcome. Jonnathan Bryan Xajpot Tzay is from the community he now serves, speaks three languages, and has been part of our Impacting Homes team for more than a year. He remembers a Team Thankful visit when a volunteer named Patrick, learning that a family’s food had to stretch to the next morning, offered the team’s own lunches instead, and told him, these are the trips that change your life. For Jonnathan, the work has always been about more than the stove. It is about the relationships built around it.

Education Stories
Four-Day Montessori Training in Tecpán
At our Early Childhood Center in Tecpán, sixteen educators from IEP, Fundación Ralda, and Fundación PAVA came together for a four-day Montessori training led by Tish Paiz. Together they explored how to create prepared environments, encourage independence, and nurture each child’s natural curiosity. Participants left with practical tools they can bring straight into their own classrooms, and a renewed commitment to giving young children the best possible start.

Team Stories
Team Honor: Experiencing the Impact of Education
Before beginning their Impacting Homes service, Team Honor visited two of our education programs. At El Molino School, they spent time with students in a vibrant learning environment. At the Esperanza Center, they saw vocational training in action: beauty-course students welcomed them with manicures, and baking teachers showed them how to make fresh cinnamon rolls. Moments like these show how education equips students with skills, confidence, and opportunities for the future.
