Dear IEP Friend,
This month we’re looking back, and forward. Nine years ago, IEP’s work in Guatemala started small: leftover food from a mission trip that led us to a rural schoolhouse, and a single volunteer medical team that spent one week seeing patients. This issue shares our brand-new 2025 Annual Report, the fullest picture yet of what showing up and staying has built, along with the origin stories behind it.

Nine years of strengthening communities, and this year’s impact speaks for itself.

Nine years in, our 2025 Annual Report brings the whole picture together: hundreds of families equipped with clean cookstoves and safe-water filters, thousands of patients seen by our volunteer clinic and surgical teams, and students kept in school from early childhood through vocational training. Team Stories
Team Excellence 2026
Team Excellence spent a week in Guatemala working shoulder to shoulder with families, installing clean cookstoves and water filters, forming friendships, and seeing the country firsthand. But as the team put it, the week’s real impact can’t be measured in projects alone: it lives in the conversations shared and the connections made across languages, cultures, and borders. Thank you, Team Excellence, for showing up with open hearts and willing hands.

Education Stories
This Is How We Started. And Now…
It began in September 2017 with leftover food from a mission trip, and an introduction to El Molino, a small rural school in Tecpán where roughly 150 children, from age one through sixth grade, shared just three classrooms. IEP stayed. Nine years on, there have been multiple graduation classes. Students who started with us as children have finished high school, some have continued to university, and others are now working as cooks, waiters, and software developers after training through the Esperanza Center and MangoChango Academy. Vocational training was never part of the original plan.

Health Stories
Our Health Pillar Grew Up To…
In 2017, IEP’s first volunteer medical team traveled to Guatemala for a single week. Over that first year, our teams recorded more than 1,600 clinic patient visits and cared for well over a hundred surgical patients: proof that care could travel. Today that first trip has become a year-round health presence, with multiple clinic and surgical teams deploying each year and patient records carried forward between visits. The fourth Team Joy clinic of 2026 just wrapped, and the year isn’t over yet.
