Technology Changing Futures - Elías

Through IEP’s MangoChango Academy, students are gaining access to intensive coding and software development training that is creating life-changing opportunities for young people in Guatemala.

For many students, the program represented far more than learning technology. It became a pathway toward employment, university studies, financial stability, and a future they once believed was out of reach.

Before entering IEP’s MangoChango Academy, Elías worked in electricity and had very little knowledge of technology, even basic computer use. He never imagined himself working in software development.

Starting the program felt overwhelming. Going from almost no experience with technology to spending entire days learning programming pushed him far outside his comfort zone. There were moments when he doubted himself and considered giving up, but with discipline, dedication, and constant encouragement from his instructor, he kept moving forward.

Today, Elías has secured his first job in technology, working remotely from home, something he once thought was impossible.

This opportunity has improved his family’s economic situation and given him confidence in his future.
