Technology Changing Futures - Fhares

Through IEP’s MangoChango Academy, students are gaining access to intensive coding and software development training that is creating life-changing opportunities for young people in Guatemala.

For many students, the program represented far more than learning technology. It became a pathway toward employment, university studies, financial stability, and a future they once believed was out of reach.

Before joining IEP’s MangoChango Academy, Fhares felt his opportunities were limited. Although he was interested in technology, he had little experience in programming and no clear path forward professionally.

The program challenged him from the beginning. Adapting to full days of study and learning to code was difficult, but through discipline, perseverance, and mentorship, he continued growing and developing new skills.

After graduating from the program, Fhares achieved something he once considered impossible: he secured his first formal job in programming at Vana Company (fintech).

Today, his work allows him to help support his family financially while continuing his university studies.
