Before IEP’s MangoChango Academy, Mishel spent her days helping her mother at home and supporting her family’s small business while finishing high school on weekends.

As the oldest daughter, she believed continuing her education after graduation would not be possible. Financially, she felt it was more important for her younger siblings to continue their studies, and she was prepared to put her own future on hold to help her family.

Although she was curious about computers and web design, university and a professional career felt distant and unrealistic.

Everything changed when she joined MangoChango Academy.

Throughout the program, Mishel learned frontend and backend web development, databases, and software development tools. The process was demanding, and there were moments when she felt discouraged, especially when she believed other students learned faster than she did.

Still, she refused to give up. She studied harder, continued practicing, and leaned on the encouragement of her family, classmates, and instructors. Over time, she not only developed technical skills, but also discovered a passion for web development that completely changed the direction of her future.

After completing the program, Mishel secured her first job as a junior software developer.

Today, she is able to support her family financially while continuing to grow professionally in a field she once never imagined possible.
