Growing Big Ideas in Small Spaces

Our elementary students are discovering that you don’t need a big field to grow healthy food. Through hands-on lessons, they learn how plants can thrive in small spaces using creative methods like containers and vertical gardens. This helps them see that agriculture can happen anywhere—even in a classroom.  Professor Fredi Sipac showed his enthusiasm with this amazing project.

Students are also introduced to hydroponics, a way of growing plants without soil. They explore how water, light, and nutrients work together to help plants grow strong and healthy. Watching roots develop in water sparks curiosity and helps them understand science in a real and exciting way.

By caring for their own plants, children build responsibility, patience, and a deeper appreciation for nature. These experiences not only teach them about food and sustainability, but also inspire them to think about how they can make a positive impact in their communities.
