Team Thankful 2027
April 10 - 18, 2027
Homes, Clinic & Surgical
About the Experience:
Amid Guatemala’s rich history and warm hospitality, Team Thankful turns gratitude into action. In Chimaltenango, you’ll install stoves and water filters. While in Retalhuleu, you will join our clinic and assist in life-changing surgeries.
What You’ll Do:
Install stoves and water filters in family homes.
Assist in essential medical care and surgeries.
Connect deeply with local families through shared stories and gratitude.
The Impact We Leave Behind:
Access to clean water and smoke-free cooking conditions reduces health risks for vulnerable families. Medical clinics become stronger, and life-saving surgeries ensure brighter futures, leaving a deep and lasting impact on the community.
Daily Itinerary Overview:
Working days start with stove and water filter installations or clinic shifts. Experience profound gratitude while hearing personal stories from local families. Evenings are filled with team reflections, gratitude-sharing circles, and fun social events.
The Story:
In 2027, Team Thankful will embark on its third journey to Guatemala with IEP —continuing a mission that changes lives one stove, one water filter, and one family at a time.
Working in small groups, we’ll support health and education in vulnerable communities, while forming genuine connections with the people we serve—and with one another. Days will be filled with purpose and service; evenings with laughter, shared meals, and stories that remind us why we came.
A vital part of our mission, the Impacting Health pillar, will once again unite a dedicated team of surgeons, nurses, and clinicians—supported by Sanford Health and local Guatemalan volunteers. Together, they will perform life-changing surgeries and provide essential medical care to those who need it most. Beyond the immediate impact, this work builds lasting relationships and strengthens access to critical healthcare in the region.
As someone originally from Chile and now a proud U.S. citizen, I was deeply moved by IEP’s work and knew I wanted to do more. This trip is my way of giving back—and I’d love for you to join us.
If you’re looking for a way to make a difference—one that fills your heart and changes lives—I invite you to come with us. Walk alongside families who will welcome you with open arms. Witness the impact of your efforts unfold before your eyes. Together, we’ll create hope, healing, and gratitude that will last far beyond our time in Guatemala.
