Impacting Homes

The Impacting Homes Pillar focuses on improving health, safety, and quality of life at the household level. Through the installation of smoke-free stoves and water filters, IEP addresses critical challenges related to indoor air pollution and access to clean water.

These solutions are implemented both through volunteer teams and IEP’s trained local installers, ensuring consistent, scalable impact. By combining infrastructure, education, and follow-up, IEP transforms homes into safer, healthier environments for families.

Smoke-Free Stoves Installation Program

Many families in rural Guatemala cook over open fires, exposing them to harmful smoke and serious health risks. IEP addresses this by installing high-efficiency, smoke-free stoves that significantly reduce indoor air pollution and improve safety.

These stoves are designed for durability, efficiency, and ease of use, providing long-term benefits for families. IEP’s approach includes household assessments, hands-on training, and follow-up visits to ensure proper use and maintenance. This program not only improves health outcomes but also reduces environmental impact and strengthens daily living conditions.

Water Filters Installation Program

Access to clean drinking water is essential for health, yet many families rely on contaminated sources. IEP’s Water Filter Program provides high-quality filtration systems that remove harmful bacteria and improve water safety.

Each installation is paired with education on proper use and maintenance, ensuring long-term effectiveness. By reducing waterborne illnesses, this program improves daily health, eases the burden on caregivers, and creates safer environments for children and families.

Water Filter Replacement Program

IEP’s Water Replacement Program ensures that families continue to benefit from clean drinking water over time. Since filters have a limited lifespan, ongoing replacement is essential to maintaining their effectiveness.

IEP identifies households, tracks usage timelines, and coordinates timely replacements for families who may not have the resources to do so independently. This program represents a shift from one-time intervention to sustained care, protecting long-term health outcomes and ensuring that access to clean water remains consistent for years to come.
