TRIP COST

The cost per person for our humanitarian missions is $1,700* based on double occupancy + $300 per person as a “mission fee” - which accounts for a stove and water filter or for supplies for the clinic. This price covers travel insurance, transportation, all hotels, and all but two meals. *Airfare is not included.

CLINICAL TEAMS

IEP clinical teams include internists, pediatricians, dermatologists, pulmonologists and psychologists–as well as dentists, nurses, physical therapists and pharmacists. The teams set up one-week clinics in the beautiful facilities at FUDI Aq’on Jay in Chimaltenango.

  • SATURDAY: Groups arrive in Guatemala and spend one night at a hotel in Guatemala City.

  • SUNDAY MORNING: A bus takes the volunteers to Chimaltenango where they set up the clinic for the week's work before checking in to a lovely inn.

  • MONDAY-THURSDAY: The group see's patients at the clinic.

  • FRIDAY MORNING: The group participates in an activity at the IEP sponsored El Molino School.

  • FRIDAY AFTERNOON: The group travels to the beautiful colonial city of Antigua, Guatemala to enjoy some well-deserved rest and relaxation.

  • SATURDAY EVENING: Farewell dinner for the group in Antigua.

  • SUNDAY: Travel to the Guatemala City Airport to board the plane for the return to the United States.

 

SURGICAL TEAMS

IEP surgical teams include surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and surgical technicians. They perform world-class, specialized procedures at no cost to those in need.

  • SATURDAY: Afternoon arrival and stay in Guatemala City.

  • SUNDAY MORNING: Bus transfer to Patzún and check-in at the Hotel Patzún Plaza which is a short 5-minute walk from the hospital

  • SUNDAY AFTERNOON: Patient triage and set-up of ORs

  • MONDAY-THURSDAY: Surgeries performed. Breakfast and dinner at the hotel and lunch at the hospital.

  • FRIDAY MORNING: Visit to the very special IEP sponsored El Molino School,

  • FRIDAY AFTERNOON: Travel to the beautiful colonial city of Antigua, Guatemala to enjoy some well-deserved rest and relaxation

  • SATURDAY NIGHT: Farewell dinner for the group in Antigua

  • SUNDAY: Transfer to the Guatemala City Airport for return to the USA

COMMUNITY Infrastructure TEAMS

IEP Community Infrastructure teams install smoke-free stoves and water filters in the homes of impoverished families in the Chimaltenango region.

  • SATURDAY: Afternoon arrival and stay in Guatemala City.

  • SUNDAY MORNING: Bus transfer to Tecpán and the lovely accommodations at Casa Xara- www.casaxara.com

  • SUNDAY AFTERNOON: Volunteers receive training on the installation of stoves and water filters

  • SUNDAY-THURSDAY: Stoves and water filters installation in the homes of local families

  • FRIDAY MORNING: Visit to the very special IEP sponsored El Molino School,

  • FRIDAY AFTERNOON; Travel to the beautiful colonial city of Antigua, Guatemala to enjoy some well-deserved rest and relaxation

  • SATURDAY NIGHT: Farewell dinner for the group in Antigua
