The Beginning of Our Educational Journey
October 2017
Sometimes the most meaningful opportunities come when we least expect them.
This month, what we believe will become an important part of our mission begins through a simple act of sharing. Following one of our recent mission trips, our team has leftover food and wants to make sure it reaches families who can benefit from it. As we distribute food in the Tecpán area, we are introduced to El Molino School, a small rural school serving children from some of the most vulnerable families in the community.
What we discover during our visit deeply moves us.
Approximately 150 children, ranging in age from one year old through sixth grade, attend classes in just three small classrooms. Limited space, scarce resources, and overcrowded learning environments create daily challenges for both students and teachers. Yet despite these obstacles, we witness something truly inspiring: a community that values education and educators who are committed to helping their students succeed, regardless of the circumstances.
As we spend time with the students, teachers, and families, it becomes clear that the need extends far beyond a single food donation. These children deserve access to a safe learning environment, educational resources, and opportunities that will help them reach their full potential.
Today, we begin what we hope will be a long-term partnership with El Molino School. This visit marks the start of our Education Pillar and our commitment to investing in the future of children through the power of education.
We do not yet know where this journey will lead, but we are excited to walk alongside this community and help create new opportunities for the students of El Molino. We look forward to sharing this journey with you as it unfolds.
